You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and then drive to Lake Naivasha. On the way, we will visit Rift Valley View Point and Hell’s Gate National Park. After that, we will continue to Lake Naivasha and check into your hotel for a hot lunch. Lake Naivasha used to be known for its flamingos, but they moved to Lake Baringo, lake Nakuru, and Bogoria when the water level rose. Now, Lake Naivasha is famous for its hippos and flamingoes. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at your accommodation.
After breakfast, we Will drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. You will arrive in time for a hot lunch and then go on an afternoon game drive. Masai Mara is one of Kenya’s most popular and beautiful game reserves. It’s 1,650 meters (5,414 feet) high and covers 1,510 square kilometers (about 600 square miles), stretching north from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. The name “Mara” means “spotted” or “dappled” in Maasai. The area has rolling grasslands with red oat grass, small bushy hills, and forests along the Mara River and its tributaries. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at your accommodation.
Today, we will spend the whole day on a game drive in the Masai Mara, with a picnic lunch included. The reserve is home to the “Big Five”—lion, leopard, African elephant, Cape buffalo, and black rhinoceros. Black rhino numbers dropped a lot because of poaching in the 1970s and 1980s but have slowly increased since then, with about 23 rhinos counted in 1999. You’ll also see large groups of hippos and crocodiles in the Mara and Talek Rivers. Leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes are also present. From July to October, the Great Migration takes place, with around 1,300,000 wildebeest, 500,000 Thomson’s gazelles, 97,000 topi, 18,000 elands, and 200,000 zebras moving north from the Serengeti to find fresh grass. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at your accommodation.
Today, you can choose to go on optional activities like a balloon safari or visit a Maasai village. After breakfast, you will drive back to Nairobi. We will have lunch on the way. When you arrive in Nairobi, you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel.
