Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1Nairobi - Mount Kenya -Sirimon Gate

You will be picked up from your hotel at 7:30 am and leave Nairobi at 8:00 am. You’ll drive to Sirimon Park Gate (2,660m), the start of your Mount Kenya climb. There, you’ll meet your guides and porters and begin your hike at 10 am. After walking for 3 hours and having lunch along the way, you’ll reach Old Moses Camp (3,300m), located on the edge of the forest. You’ll stay here overnight.

Day 2Hiking to Shipton Camp

You will leave the camp at 8:00 am and continue your hike through the moorland, which has many kinds of senecio and lobelia plants. You will head to Shipton Camp (4,200m) with lunch along the way. The 14 km hike takes about 6 hours. You’ll stay overnight at Shipton Camp, located just below the three big peaks: Batian, Nelion, and Lenana.

Day 3Hike to Point Lenana

After an early breakfast at 4:00 am, you’ll start a steep climb up rocky paths to reach Point Lenana. After taking some photos at the summit, you’ll head back to Simba Cole and then continue to Mintos Hut (4,200m). You’ll have lunch before walking along a ridge with views of Gorge Valley and Lake Michaelson. By late afternoon, you’ll reach your camp at 3,300m, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 4Mt Kenya back to Nairobi

After breakfast, you have two choices depending on how you feel. You can either have the vehicle pick you up from Chogoria bandas, or you can walk 10 km down a path through bamboo and rainforest to meet the vehicle. The vehicle will then take you to Chogoria town and on to Nairobi, arriving by Late Evening for your flight-back home.
