You will be picked up at your hotel in Nairobi or from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and then drive to Lake Nakuru National Park.
We will stop at a viewpoint to see the Rift Valley view. Arrive in Nakuru in time for a hot lunch, then go on an afternoon game drive.
Lake Nakuru, located in the Rift Valley, was once famous for its flamingos, but the birds moved to Lake Baringo and Bogoria when the water level rose.
Lake Nakuru is now known for its rhino sanctuary, with over 40 black rhinos and more than 60 white rhinos.
Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. You will arrive in Masai Mara in time for a hot lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.
This is one of the most popular and beautiful game reserves in Kenya. Located at an altitude of 1,650 meters (5,414 feet), it covers 1,510 square kilometers (about 600 square miles) and extends north from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.
The name “Mara” comes from the Maasai word for “spotted” or “dappled.” The area is a mix of rolling grasslands with red oat grass, small bush-covered hills, and riverine forests along the Mara River and its tributaries.
Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at your accommodation.
Today, we’ll have a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara with a picnic lunch provided. The reserve is home to the “Big Five”—lion, leopard, African elephant, Cape buffalo, and black rhinoceros.
Black rhino numbers dropped sharply due to poaching in the 1970s and 1980s, but have slowly increased since then, with about 23 rhinos estimated in 1999.
You can also see large groups of hippos and crocodiles in the Mara and Talek Rivers. Leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes are also present. Each year, from July to October, the Great Migration takes place, with around 1,300,000 wildebeest, 500,000 Thomson’s gazelles, 97,000 topi, 18,000 elands, and 200,000 zebras moving north from the Serengeti in search of fresh grass.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at your accommodation
Today, you can have optional activities such as a balloon safari and a Maasai village visit. You will have breakfast, then drive back to Nairobi.
We’ll have lunch on the way. After arriving in Nairobi, you’ll be dropped off at the airport or your Nairobi hotel.
