Mountaineering – Mount Kenya

Mountaineering has become more common than ever before and East Africa offers the kind of challenges guaranteed to make your heart pump and adrenaline flow. In reality, thousands of people climb Mount Kenya every year in Kenya alone, and most of the travelers only hit Point Lenana (4,985 m) because they need experienced and prepared climbers to make it to the summit, crested by twin icy peaks named Batian and Nelion.

The climbing season, in general, is from July to early October. There are about 30 technical paths, but the southeast face is the most popular path to the summit, entering the mountains along the Chogoria route. At least 5-6 days are required for this climb. A steep ascent of a tarn before crossing the broad Lewis Glacier to ascend to Nelion includes the final approach to the summit.
